Emergency
When the bracket is loose, but the wire is not poking the patient's cheek or lip, then this is not considered as an emergency. It may be annoying, but there is no harm. When the wire is poking the patient, causing pain or ulceration or both, then this is truly an emergency.
For emergency, please call our office for an immediate appointment, so we can take care of you. If you cannot come to our office because you either live too far away or are on your vacation on a remote location, then you may consider using wax (like a bandage) to prevent any irritation.
